Configuration
In simple words
Configuration is where you set the business rules once: how tax is calculated, what special pricing each customer group gets, which delivery options and payment methods you offer, and which timezone is used. After that, every quote, order and website checkout follows these rules automatically.
The problem it solves
Without central rules, every executive has to calculate. Tax is checked for each quote, freight is estimated, and trade discounts are remembered. Each of these is a chance to lose money or to make a compliance mistake. The rules exist anyway. The only question is whether the system applies them, or your people do.
What happens without it
| If you do not set these rules centrally | What it means for your business |
|---|---|
| Tax is calculated for every quote | 5–10 minutes per quote, plus compliance risk and corrections |
| Volume and trade prices are given manually | Profit is lost slowly across every order |
| Freight is estimated by the executive | You charge less than the real cost and absorb the difference |
| Oversized items are not handled separately | Large items are quoted at normal parcel rates, and you lose money on each one |
| Timings are shown in the wrong timezone | Delivery slots are missed and cut-off times are disputed |
| Rules are kept in one person's memory | Prices differ from person to person, and every new joiner needs training |
Time you save
| Task | The manual way | With Configuration | You save |
|---|---|---|---|
| Apply tax on a quote | Check the rate and any exemption — 5–10 min | The tax class applies it | 5–10 min per quote |
| Apply volume or trade pricing | Find the agreement and recalculate — 5–10 min | The tier pricing rule applies it | 5–10 min per quote |
| Quote freight | Check transporter rates by item and location — 5–10 min | Shipping methods calculate it | 5–10 min per quote |
| Change a tax rate | Inform every executive and correct open quotes | Edit the tax class once | Days of rework avoided |
| Start a dealer pricing scheme | Circulate a price list and check every order | Create one tier pricing rule | Hours per account |
| Correct a wrongly shipped large item | Pay the extra freight and rebook | Product shipping support prevents it | Freight loss avoided |
For a team sending 20 quotes a week, tax, pricing and freight automation alone saves about 5–10 hours a week, apart from the profit that manual pricing gives away.
Your process, before and after
Each quote is priced by the person making it, using rules they have to remember. The result depends on who is quoting and how busy they are.
The rules are set once and used everywhere — in Console quotes, in orders and on your website. The price is correct no matter who prepares the quote.
These settings affect live prices and checkout. Please change them carefully, and check the result with a test quote afterwards.
